I often get asked which WordPress plugins I use. So today I want to share my top 10 favorite WordPress plugins with you. These are the ones that I find to be the most helpful and have made managing my WordPress websites simpler.

Quick disclaimer, don’t just download all of these plugins because I use them. The last thing you want to do is load up your website with too many plugins to manage. It’s going to slow down your website and potentially break something along the way. Also, none of my recommendations are fancy or flashy plugins, they are all what I consider WordPress essentials.

Here are my top 10 favorite WordPress plugins:

#10. User Profile Picture

This plugin is great for large multi author blogs/websites. It allows you to use the native WP uploader on your user profile page. I like this plugin because instead of having a bunch of authors after posts with no images, I can ask them to give me an image, or pull one from their social media to display.

#9. Gravity Forms

Most people just use “Contact Form 7” as their forms plugin. However, if you want to step up your forms game, give Gravity Forms a shot.E It seems to have unlimited capabilities. I’ve built some sweet forms with this!

#8. Shield

Website security is very important. Shield is the most powerful WordPress security provider. Even if you don’t use shield, make sure you have some sort of protection for your website.

#7. Easy Digital Downloads

If you want to sell any sort of service or eBook Easy Digital Downloads is the way to go! It makes checking out seamless and simple for the user.

#6. Easy Social Share Buttons for WordPress

Most websites have social share buttons. What people don’t realize is that most plugins for social buttons will drastically slow down your website. Easy Social Share Buttons keeps your website loading quick and offers some of the best looking social buttons. This plugin is also highly flexible to meet your needs.

#5. Disqus Comment System

I’m not a huge fan of the native WordPress comment system. Disqus is the coolest comment system I’ve ever seen. Also, it’s been improving a lot over the pas year. If you want to spice up your comment section of your website, try Disqus!

#4. Jetpack by WordPress.com

Jetpack enables you to connect your blog to a WordPress.com account to use the powerful features normally only available to WordPress.com users. Basically you get all of the benefits of WordPress.com on your self hosted website. Also, it has a feature called Publicize connections. This feature auto shares your new content to social media. No one does this better than Jetpack!

#3. Imagify

Having an image optimizer is a must! This made my website 10 times faster. Imagify is the best on the market when it comes to image optimization and maintaining quality.

WP Rocket will drastically improve your website speed. This is a game changer and you’ll quickly notice the performance enhancement. Every website I work on has this plugin.

#1. Yoast SEO Premium

The first true all-in-one SEO solution for WordPress, including on-page content analysis, XML sitemaps and much more. This is 100% my favorite plugin. It’s helped me become a better writer and understand SEO. If you truly plan on creating a successful WordPress website, you must have a reliable SEO Plugin.
